Heavy Combination

TLILIC2017-Licence to drive heavy combination vehicle -

This training is designed to provide Clients with the skills required by VicRoads to drive a heavy combination vehicle.

We provide one on one 1:1 training in your choice of Non-Synchro or Automatic trucks (auto not currently available in Bendigo).

Non-synchro gear box: The course you book is for a maximum of 2 days training from 8am-4pm. If you are ready for your VicRoads assessment this will be scheduled on day 2 between 1pm -4pm. If at any stage during your training, the assessor suggests you are not ready for assessment- you will be given the opportunity to continue training for the duration of the course and re-book for your assessment for a fee of $500.

If you choose to be assessed - against the trainer's advice - and you do not pass the assessment- you will be required to re-book for your assessment for a fee of $500.

 

Automatic gear box: 

The course you book is for 1 full day training from 8am-4pm. If you are ready for your VicRoads assessment this will be scheduled between 1pm -4pm. If at any stage during your training, the assessor suggests you are not ready for assessment- you will be given the opportunity to continue training for the duration of the day and re-book for your assessment for a fee of $500.

If you choose to be assessed - against the trainer's advice - and you do not pass the assessment- you will be required to re-book for your assessment for a fee of $500.

Due to the strict licensing criteria, we can not guarantee you will pass your assessment but we aim to provide you with all of the necessary skills to do so within the course timeframe.

 

Classification

A prime mover, single semi trailer or rigid vehicle with a trailer over 9 tonnes GVM

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum age 18 years

  • Must have held a medium rigid (MR) or heavy rigid (HR) licence for at least 1 year

  • Clients must be able to drive a vehicle fitted with a manual transmission

  • Be familiar with the VicRoads Truck and Bus handbook before the course commences

  • Meet the entry criteria for medical and physical standards- refer to the VicRoads Website

Clients will be provided with the training required to gain the skills required by VicRoads to be able to drive a heavy rigid vehicle.

TLILIC2015 - Licence to drive medium rigid vehicle

(synchro gear box)

Clients will be provided with the training required to gain the skills required by VicRoads to be able to drive a medium rigid vehicle. 

The course you book is for a maximum of 1 days training from 8am-4pm. If you are ready for your VicRoads assessment this will be scheduled - between 1pm -4pm. If at any stage during your training, the assessor suggests you are not ready for assessment- you will be given the opportunity to continue training for the duration of the course and re-book for your assessment for a fee of $500.

If you choose to be assessed - against the trainer's advice - and you do not pass the assessment- you will be required to re-book for your assessment for a fee of $500.

Advance Techniques in Heavy Truck on Road Operations- $400.00 per session

Learn how to save $$$ in fuel consumption & maintenance costs

The aim of this course is to show drivers how they can reduced fuel consumption and maintenance costs & save money for themselves or their companies.

Classroom Based Discussion and practical exercises involving the following:

  • Safety issues regarding driving heavy trucks on the road- including fatigue management.

  • how to get the best out of the truck's performance by using the gearbox efficiently.

  • learning how to skip gears when practical- flow on affect is less fatigue

  • better fuel economy and less wear on the equipment

 

Advanced Truck Driver Training- $400.00 per session

Drivers who have just completed their heavy vehicle truck licences do not always have the confidence to drive the vehicle in a real work situation. Other drivers may feel their driving skills need improving. The advanced driving course provides drivers with the skills required to load and unload plant, or commercial goods, improve their driving skills using a non-synchro gear box, and general driving confidence. 

Defensive Skills- 4 hours- $400.00

Ace Truck Training is committed to providing defensive driving courses that improve the attitude and skill base of all drivers, no matter what level of experience. With the correct attitude and good defensive techniques, you can avoid potentially hazardous situations. We will teach you to have a better understanding of modern vehicle technology, and be able to react more effectively in an emergency situation.

Classroom Based Discussion and practical exercises involving the following :

  • Tyres and Car Maintenance

  • Seating/Posture/Steering Technique

  • Following Distances

  • Stopping Distances

  • Emergency Braking technique

  • Collision Avoidance and Lane Changing.

  • Split Surface Braking

  • Corner Braking

  • Skid Control

  • Fatigue Management

  • Road Rules 

Induction Training- $100 per hour

Driver safety training should be provided as soon as possible to new employees before they are assigned a vehicle and as part of normal induction.

Induction training can provide a sense of importance to the new employee, showing that their safety and understanding of company policies, and procedures is highly valued. 

Pre-employment Assessments- $400 per session 

Pre-employment screening of personnel is critical to ensuring you appoint the right person for the job.

Before you make a decision to employ a full time employee driver/operator Ace Truck training offers evaluations for employers and those seeking employment within the transport/construction industry.

We have designed a comprehensive driving and/or operating evaluation program that incorporates both theory knowledge required for jobs as well as demonstration of practical ability. The process is designed to evaluate skills, habits, other vehicle interaction behaviour and to give an indication of a person’s capability to drive / operate heavy vehicles or plant. Evaluations include:

  • Pre-checklist

  • Pre drive check

  • Vehicle inspection

  • Basis road/legislative law

  • PPE Basic operation

  • Technical manoeuvres

  • Attitude and technique

  • Economic use of vehicle 

Refresher Training/Evaluations- $400 per session 

Ace Truck training provides refresher training for existing employees to offer employers feedback on their driver’s skills and road behaviours.

We come to you- The sessions are conducted whilst your drivers are conducting their normal work routines- eliminating down-time. Feedback includes:

  • Observation and planning skills

  • Defensive and economical driving practises

  • Road rule compliance

  • Stress free driving style

  • Crash and incident avoidance

  • Hazard perception and early risk analysis

  • Surviving the drive

  • Driving with everybody on the road

 

 Entry Requirements: All drivers must hold a current car and/or heavy vehicle licence- MR, HR or HC.

Certification: All drivers will receive a certificate of competency and a driver evaluation report will be provided at completion of each course.
