You’ll learn how to drive and operate a heavy combination vehicle safely and effectively with this course. A heavy combination vehicle can be a prime mover, single semi-trailer, or rigid vehicle with a trailer weighing more than 9 tonne GVM. This course will teach you to control all vehicle functions, monitor the vehicle’s performance, and how to couple and uncouple a trailer.

ACE Training will deliver the training through classroom instruction and in realistic learning environments. Successful students who pass the assessment by our qualified assessor will be  issued an application form for the correct licensing body. You will be responsible for the payment of fees for your Heavy Combination Licence application upgrade at a VicRoads customer service centre of your choice. 

A full course overview will be provided upon completion of the enrolment process.

  • Applicants must hold or have held an Australian car licence for two years.
  • Applicants must hold or have held a lower heavy vehicle category for the required minimum time. E.g. Medium Rigid or Heavy Rigid licence for at least 12 months.
  • Applicants must pass an eyesight test.
  • Applicants must be familiar with the VicRoads Truck and Bus handbook before the course commences.
  • Applicants must meet the entry criteria for medical and physical standards- refer to the VicRoads website.
