PERFORM DOGGING

Units of competency:       CPCCLDG3001A Licence to perform dogging dogging

Delivery Period:                                            5 Days

 This unit specifies the competency required to undertake basic dogging work, both in sight and out of sight of the crane operator, for the purpose of shifting loads mechanically.

At the completion of this course students may apply to Worksafe Victoria for a National Licence to Perform High Risk Work. Application forms will be completed by the Worksafe Assessor conducting your assessment.

Course Outline: 

  • Resources, materials and equipment are selected and inspected for compliance with job specifications
  • Job sequencing schedule is communicated with team members and others to ensure co-ordination
  • Load mass is calculated and confirmed using load charts and standard calculations
  • Load in slings and equipment are calculated to suit job requirements
  • Lifting devices are assembled/erected for the movement of load
  • Loads are slung to crane ready for lifting
  • Protective packing is applied to the load
  • Loads is shifted ensuring stability in compliance with work method statement
  • Load is directed to landing position using communications in compliance with Australian Standards and recognised work practices
  • Load is landed in required position on packing or bearers
  • Load shifting equipment is dismantled and inspected for wear and log book and site records completed to company requirements
  • Work area is cleared and materials disposed of, reused or recycled in accordance with legislation/regulations/codes of practice and job specification
  • Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and standard work practices
  • Work completion procedures are applied and relevant personnel notified that work is finished

  • Conduct Dogging Operations in a Workplace Environment  

Theory Sessions Covering The Following: 

  • Crane Setups
  • OH&S Rules & Regulations
  • Personal Safety
  • Rules For Safe Operation
  • Dogging Operations 

Assessment Methods:  

  • Assessment method will be via written and practical demonstration at varied intervals during the course

Cost:  $600.00 Per Person + $60.00 Worksafe Application Fee

Government Funded fee $400 (for eligible clients)
