Construction Induction

 This course is a mandatory requirement for all levels of construction personnel.

 Target Groups:

 This course is recognised by Worksafe for the registration of construction workers for occupational health and safety induction. Please note: clients who currently hold a Red Card are still recognised and will not need to complete the course.

Course Outline:

 Identify OHS legislative requirements

  • Applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislative requirements relevant to own work, role and responsibilities are identified and explained.
  • Duty of care requirements are identified.
  • Own responsibilities to comply with safe working practices are identified and explained.

 Identify construction hazards and control measures

  • Basic principles of risk management are identified.
  • Common construction hazards are identified and discussed.
  • Measures for controlling hazards and risks are identified.

 Identify OHS Communication and reporting techniques

  • OHS communication processes, information and documentation are identified and discussed.
  • Role of designated OHS personnel is identified and explained.
  • Safety signs and symbols are identified and explained.
  • Procedures and relevant authorities for reporting hazards, incidents and injuries are identified.

 Identify OHS incident response procedures

  • General procedures for responding to incidents and emergencies are identified and explained.
  • Procedures for accessing first aid are identified.
  • Requirements for the selection and use of relevant Personal protective Equipment are identified and demonstrated.
  • Fire safety equipment is identified and discussed.

Assessment Methods: 

  • Assessment will be via written exam

Upon completion of this course an interim Statement of Attainment (SoA) will be issued by ACE Assessment & Training Services which may be used as evidence of training for the purpose of gaining access to construction sites for a period of 60 days only. If all requirements are met, Worksafe will issue a “Construction Induction (CI)” card (formerly known as RED CARD) directly to the course participant.
