WORK IN CONFINED SPACES

Units of competency:   RIIOHS202A Enter and work in confined spaces

Delivery period:                                2 Days

Current legislation requires for all persons performing activities in relation to confined spaces must undertake specific training and assessment to enable them to work in confined spaces.
After completion of this course you will have the safety knowledge to reduce risks of injury or death when working close to hazards.

Target Groups: 

Clients who are required to enter and perform work, maintenance and inspections in a Confined Space 

 Course Outline: 

  • Ÿ  We Will Cover How To Work Safely In Confined Spaces
  • Ÿ  How To Choose And Use Respiratory Protection Devices
  • Ÿ  Applying Basic Fire Protection   
  • Ÿ  Provide Information On Standard First Aid And Basic Care

 Practical Demonstrations Include: 

  •     Simulated workplace activities
  •     Completion of JSA (Job Safety Analysis), entry permits
  •     Demonstration of competency in the use of personal protective equipment 
  •     Tripods, safety lines,communication devices, signage
  •     Simulation of confined space in the classroom
  •     Competency in the use of electronic gas detection/reading results
  •     Demonstrate rescue capabilities
  •     Enter and exit confined space 

 Course Theory Sessions Covering The Following:

  •     Different confined spaces
  •     The employers responsibilities
  •     Identifying hazards
  •     PPE and safety equipment
  •     Processes of rescue situations

 Assessment Methods: 

  •   The application of competency is to be assessed in the workplace
  •   Assessment method will be via written and practical demonstration at varied intervals during the coursenrt
